The genetically modified organism (GMO) industry is currently pushing for the substitution of animal products such as beef, poultry, dairy and fish with synthetic meat and gene-edited foods.
This big food goal advocated by globalist elites as part of the Great Reset was inadvertently revealed at this year’s Natural Products Expo West, which has traditionally catered to organic companies.
Nick McCoy, co-founder and managing director of investment bank Whipstitch Capital, said in the event’s keynote presentation: “The only way we are going to meet demand, as a planet, is through cultured meat.”
He put down these three arguments to defend the consumption of synthetic meats: First, inorganic meats are sustainable as they can be produced fast using a small land footprint. Second, they tackle climate change as they are more environmentally friendly than raising livestock. Third, lab-grown meats do not require animals to be killed, lining up with animal welfare concerns.
McCoy’s arguments seemed to line up with “The Planetary Health Diet” initiative promoted by the nonprofit EAT Forum. It sought to cut meat and dairy intake by up to 90 percent and replace it largely with lab-produced counterparts, along with cereals and oils.
According to the initiative’s website, 50 percent of the diet is comprised of fruits and vegetables. Whole grains, plant proteins and oils and “modest amounts of meat and dairy” comprised the other half of the diet.
However, all-natural companies expressed opposition to the presence of these food tech firms during the expo. Alan Lewis, vice president of advocacy at Natural Grocers, was among them.
“It seems that even with all the smarts and savvy in the natural products community, we have failed to understand that we are being targeted by a coordinated global campaign to force the adoption of synthetics in natural channels,” Lewis said. “The campaign is the spawn of the notorious GMO lobby, now emboldened and backed by technology moguls.”
A LifeSiteNews article also touched on cultured meat, which McCoy and other globalists are pushing. Cultured meat is produced from animal tissue cells grown into larger slabs. (Related: Lab-cultured, GMO-laden fake “meat” is a toxic abomination to be avoided at all costs.)
While its main selling point is allowing people to eat beef without harming an animal, the article contradicted this claim by outlining the use of fetal bovine serum (FBS) to grow the cells for cultured meat. Made from the blood of cow fetuses, FBS is used for lab-grown meat as it is a universal growth medium – any cell can grow in it – and contains growth factors that prevent cell death.
A 2017 Slate magazine article that exposed the gruesome truth about lab-grown meat said: “If a cow coming to slaughter happens to be pregnant, the cow is slaughtered and bled, and then the fetus is removed from its mother and brought into a blood collection room.”
“The fetus, which remains alive during the following process to ensure blood quality, has a needle inserted into its heart. Its blood is then drained until the fetus dies, a death that usually takes about five minutes. This blood is then refined, and the resulting extract is FBS.”
The Slate article also pointed out that even though the use of FBS is “convenient,” doing so “defeats the purpose of cultured meat in an extremely obvious way” as cows are still slaughtered to obtain it.
Ultimately, the LifeSiteNews article remarked that people eating cultured meat means not merely eating an animal that was killed at the end of its life. Rather, it means that people are made to eat food from an animal that was sacrificed before it was even born.
“That’s a pretty bizarre way to promote animal welfare,” the article noted.
